My only word of caution is if you use a plastic colander and you have winter freezes, bring it so it won't crack. Best to you.

DIY Colander Planter
I would line it with landscape fabric or a coffee filter.
You can get a coconut liner that is perfect for hanging baskets like this. The colander should me made with some kind of coating to keep it from rusting so you should be good!
Hello. At most garden centers- even Walmart you can buy a three-piece chain planter hanger sent. That would be a solution to use with your calendar.
You can line your colander with Coco fiber or a coffee filters to avoid having the water from quickly running out when you’re trying to water your plants.
I am thinking the "coco" liner, the kind you put in planter baskets. I wish I had seen this post earlier. I had someone gift around a dozen of the type colander in the project posted above. I have a few left. I'm going to be making some to hang on my front porch.
Thanks for asking this question.
I love this one and she used coffee filters, but also suggests burlap. https://www.mommyskitchen.net/2014/05/how-to-make-diy-hanging-colander-planter.html
