Any ideas for additional privacy for wooden fence?

Have you considered planting privet hedges along the fence or plants that are used to cover fences like Jasmine? I know the exact type of fencing you are talking about and I see them in a lot of neighborhoods where there is an HOA in place. I think its so the powers that be can look into your yard lol.

Do you need the entire fence to be private or just strategically?

• You could add bushes etc as part of a landscaping border inside or outside to say add more privacy closest to the house and sitting areas.
• If entire fence, the privacy screen is probably your best option without adding planks/pickets to the fence. This one looks more natural colored to wood than others and was on amazon in 25' lengths. I am sure that there would be a way to add to wooden.. maybe even staple gun.
• Lattice would be another option but there will still be gaps but you could add a vine growing.. but not english ivy as it will take over and creep into yard and trees.
• You could add some strategic yard art to cover some gaps to break up the background

You might already know this, but the small openings in the fence are there to allow for expansion and contraction of the individual boards. So, I’m thinking you could grow some type of plant to cover the openings. Maybe some type of ivy, or even boxwoods. I realize it would take time, but it would serve your purpose. Also, boxwood grows pretty fast.

Since you live in FL, is Bouganvilla an option? Do you have to be concerned about bees or wasps? Is your climate too hot for a Pee Gee Hydrangea that will vine out?

I have the same fencing and hate those prying eyes! Until my plants could grow in I used strategically placed ''hash tag'' shaped trellises - # - they are straight up and down not leaning like a hash tag, only thing I could think of to describe them. Coordinating the vertical boards with the openings in the fence. I didn't attach them to the fence but to rebar, stakes, whatever we had on hand, just in front of the fence so it could still allow for the expansion and contraction.

They are easy to make too. It just happened we had a bunch in a pile at the farm my Dad had made but didn't use anymore. Some overlapped. I wasn't too particular as I knew they would be covered by whatever I chose to plant - be it climbers, bushes, etc.

You don't have to plant climbers on them, you can plant whatever you'd like in front, in the meantime the peek-a-boo's are hidden.

Cut forward to today, everything has filled in. Some trellises have climbers, others are hidden by bushes. It was an easy fix.

HOA's can be so particular. Insure they'd permit total obscurity by any means, before proceeding, so they don't make you remove your efforts!
