Can I lay concrete over a cracked brick tiled patio?

My frobt patio is made from old cracked brick pieces and is aged and some brick pieces missing. I want to put slate tiles in this area? Can slate be laid over this or must we remove old brick? Thanks

no, they existing must be removed it will be uneven
I would think that removing the brick is the best thing to do. You'll need to level the whole area with a slight slope for drainage. You don't want puddles everywhere. And it would look better too.
Be sure to pack down the ground that will have the slate tiles. You want a firm base for them.
