How much space are you looking for? I just nailed 2 x 10's together in the size I needed and filled them with black dirt and manure from my local garden nursery. They have lasted for a long time even though the wood was not treated--like 10 years or more. You can lay them out any way you want. I made mine a rectangle shape so that I could reach across from one side to the other to pick veggies and weed. My dream raised garden would be numerous rectangular boxes with gravel pathways in between.
You can use pallets, as well:

I do have several on my blog Garden Up Green and a few here on Hometalk. I would recommend not using pallet wood for raised beds because it won't last very long. Wood should be at least 2 ft thick.
