How and what do you use to build a foundation for an outdoor shed?

We want to build a cute, quaint shed for our yard tools, including a wheelbarrow. What foundation should we use? Cement? Rocks? Bricks? a combination? Will need a slope for the entrance to get the lawnmower and wheelbarrow in and out.

You will probably be happiest with a concrete foundation. It is sturdy and can be sloped for a ramp. You can purchase ready mix in a bag that is just "add water". Depending on the size and how much you are going to pour, mix in a wheelbarrow or rent an electric concrete mixer for a day (recommended).

Most sheds are have wood flooring with the beams supported by cement blocks. Be aware, that if you put a permanent (like cement) floor, you may be taxed on it. You can easily pour a cement sloped entry.

Either pour a concrete pad or build a wood platform. My shed/workshop has a wood platform like a deck supported on blocks off the ground.
