Drill holes through the bottom of the mailbox while it's off the post. Drill matching holes in the post top and screw it back on.

It is easy! After you drill holes through the bottom of the mailbox, hold it on top of the cross arm where you want it. Mark your drilled holes onto the crosspiece so you know how to match up the screw hole.

If you don't know, get your screws first. Wood screws. Choose your drill bit by picking a size just smaller than the diameter of the screws. Do this by trying to fit the screw into the bit holder holes. Pick one the screw does NOT push into as you need wood left to screw into and hold the screw in place.

if it's your post you may have to cut a few inches, if not do Robyn's solution.

The wood pole/post is really old n the wood is separating. The old screws area barely hanging on.
