How can I make a 50 foot long and 6-7 foot tall natural privacy fence?

I am trying to block myself from not so nice neighbors in a mobile home park. I have an end lot facing a river. The natural privacy fence would be behind me. I just don't want them to be able to look over into my yard or in my windows.

  • Junipers and hollies come in all shapes and sizes, and stay full and green year round. Anything you plant will take years before its mature enough to provide any privacy though.

What about fencing? I know it's stupid expensive, so maybe some kind of pallet fence??

I agree. Using shrubs for privacy is a great idea. Evergreens grow quickly and stay beautiful all year long. You can also trim them to whatever shape suits your yard.

Pallets are an AWESOME way to make a fence for little to no money. Look on Craigslist and many times you'll find people giving them away. You can also check with local businesses that receive shipments. many will be happy to give them to you to just get rid of them.

Another option is to put up lattice and plant a vine type plant that will climb and fill in the gaps.

    Good luck!!

I have the same issue I planted Purple Hopseed Bushes. They took off like crazy my neighbor sprayed the tops with vinegar just to be a meaney! I trimmed them way down but I will now have more years of watching and waiting, good luck!

Start growing the bushes, if you have the room, most likely they will take a couple years.

I would use that reed fencing for an immediate out of sight neighbor. If there is an existing fence, you can attach it easily with zip ties. A few t posts would hold the reed fencing up in a pinch. There is also a privacy shade material that can be used in the same way. These could be framed to make a portable fence. Less maintenance then bushes.

  • How about a lattice fence with an aggressive vine like morning glories? It will be covered in one season.

Leyland Cypress Tree - Grows up to 3-5 ft. per year, easily pruned to your desired height & shape, and Drought Tolerant

They grow very fast and thicken to create a solid wall. It's feathery texture is soft to the touch. Stays green all year-round, giving you complete privacy.

Adapt to a variety of soils and conditions, even sandy and clay.

Space your Leylands 8 ft. apart for a privacy hedge or further apart for a spacious property border.

But, as Bernadette M. mentions, they can be killed if the neighbors apply anything poisonous to them.

If they're looking into your windows at night, a couple of strong spotlights in their direction could fix that. For peeping in daylight, apply some window darkening film (automotive section at Walmart) to the inside of your windows - you can see out but they can't see in unless it's brighter inside than it is outside, and can help cut down on a/c bills.

    Good Luck!

I was thinking that mirrored reflective window covering. They are windows where an a/c window unit used to be and the door window - top 2 jalousies are clear and the bottom 2 are a little frosty. GREAT idea! Thank you so much!!
