Trees would certainly help if you have the space. Hopefully the noise is only seasonal?
Discuss this with the race track. They can place sound barrier walls around their track. Also, check if there is a sound ordnance that applies. Otherwise, consider the windows, crawlspace and walls in your sound insulation application. Well insulated draperies are also helpful. There exists fabric which can absorb some sound.
I have a dear friend who's house was placed on a airport flight path, the noise was awful. She complained to them, the actual airport, and they came out and soundproofed her house, from the walls, roof, and windows. They flew so low to the ground she could even see the passengers' faces.
I would go see the race track owner(s) and let them know what is going on, check and see if they are violating any ordinances. They are creating the noise, so they should be accountable for the disruption of your right to peace and quiet.
Yes, thank you. I can talk with track owners, but what of my right to be outdoors during nice weather, and what of the truck sounds? I didn't mention that. I have a medical condition aggravated by the sounds. The town brings in much money by the rave track, and the trucks are new to bring trashfrom NYC to trash incinerator. Theregore I think the ultimate fix might be with me and my 3.5 acres.
Either a brick wall. or a waffled wood fence. Remember sound refracts when it hits a surface. the waffling slows the sound from being reflected. think sound studio or a live theater. A thick evergreen border would be another way to go. depends on your area which trees will grow best and fastest.
