How do I make a drop cloth water proof / water resistant?

I am making a cover for my pergola out of drop cloth and I would like to make it water proof / water resistant but I don't know what product would work best.

Or purchase a few cans of Scotchguard. They make a product for canvas tents, would work the same way.
I vote for Scotchguard. But a tarp makes more sense. Keep dry 😇
They make water repellent canvas.,Scotchguard works well.
3m makes a spray for fabrics. There is also an ironon fusible web you can use.
Use a shower curtain liner, cut to size can get at a dollarstore
I would suggest using a sealer on the wood. Look on amazon for sealers used on boats, they are more expensive but they last a long time.
