If it’s a riding lawnmower, this is a big project.

One can buy metal ramps that are made for lawnmowers for about $800 and they will never rot. How much is your time worth? Do you have access to several tools?

First, what is the weight of the lawnmower plus the driver?

I’d use at least 2x8’s, preferably 2x10’s at least 12” on center. If they’re going to sit on the dirt or gravel, they should be treated lumber.

Blocking in between to keep them from rotating and breaking.

Then 3/4” CDX Plywood for the ramp surface.

All joints need to be screwed & glued with exterior grade screws & glue.

However tall your door opening is from ground but that size or larger 2 x ? X 8ft long. Need 1 every two feet wide. Rip down to angle of ground. Use 3/4 inch exterior plywood as deck.

  • Be sure to get the angle correct — check online or with your local building department to find out what is best. 1” to a foot is safest.
