How to make a horseshoe toss backboard?
Anyone have suggestions for an easy, simple way to make a backboard for a horseshoe pit? I do have a couple of pallets that I could use. Don’t have tools to dig deep holes in my yard. I created the toss area with sand but need some ideas on what to use to have the horse shoes toss against.

Pallet wood should work well! You could build a panel and anchor it into the ground with rebar.
Pallets should work. You can get steel fence posts that pound into the ground and attach the pallet to them. A good hammer would work.

You must have friends with wild arms! I’ve never player with a barrier behind but if you have something to protect you could use the pallet. I would cut it in half so you have one for each end. Use the extra cross pieces from the back to fill in the front.
Place the pallet where you want it. Cut 4 pieces of 2x2 about 18 inches long and cut an angled point on one end. Pound a 2x2 into the dirt on each end on the pallet until it is about 9 inches deep. Screw tho stake the pallet.
Cut more 2x2 or other scrap and attach it to the back of the pallet like the leg on the back of a picture frame so the pallet is supported.
The stakes on the side keep it from moving back. The legs keep it from toppling over.
Varnish it, paint it to match your garden, or put whatever design you want.

A small wall with scrap wood would work. It can be propped up with a brace so it will stand. It will also be movable if needed.
