If concrete, dig down bout 4in, n level in shape u like n pour concrete! When dry maybe get decorative pavers around outer edge!
If wood, dig bout 2-3in in square shape to fit 4x4s n level n 1 more in center for support depending on size, fasten them together with wood screws, get enuf 1 3/4in x 6in boards to fit across top, fasten with wood screws!
The cheapest would probably be pressure treated wood. You'll have maintenance with wood, but if done right it will last for a while. Make sure that you put in footing to support the porch or it will sink.
