How do I cover up a 12x10 concrete slab inexpensively?

I have a cracked concrete slab outside my back door. I've tried filling the cracks but to no avail. Weeds grow in the cracks, its slightly uneven & its just ugly. I would like to either have it re-done or a deck built over it. Either solution will be very costly, so I'm hoping that you have some cheaper ideas to make it look more attractive & inviting.

If you can get it removed you can prepare the area and lay down pavers.

    Hi Lisa,

If your slab is under a roof and it’s not too uneven, you could lay a rug on it until you can afford a new patio or deck. If no roof maybe outdoor carpet?

I wish I had a better answer for you but it’s just not cost effective to cover a failing slab with any hard materials. There is either a root lifting your concrete or a loss of soil underneath which is why it’s uneven. If you attempt to install anything on the slab, it will just move with the concrete and you’ll have the same problem.

    I hope that helps

My son purchased a plastic rug on their deck. They put it together with plastic tie. It’s adorable. Try found it at Big Lots. A recycled plastic rug in a cute pattern.
