Currently my trash receptacles are sitting on a concrete block of which will eventually become the base for a sunroom, so the trash bins need a cover-up elsewhere. It also needs to be convenient to access and easy to roll the bins in and out.

I have made a small shed ...just big enough for my can to set in, allowed room for the lid to be lifted for adding stuff...lits made to match my siding so it blends in with the house. Its open on the side so its not noticeable as other than a part of the house. It can also be made to conceal recycle bins instead of a trash can. Slope the roof downward away from the house to keep rain & snow from causing problems.

wherever you put them, you need to be careful of two things. 1 - I'd move them away from the house asap due to ants....they LOVE food scrap trash. To discourage them place some form of either commercial or home-made ant poison underneath them wherever you store them. 2- Powerwash them when you bring them back from the curb at least once a month. That will help them be less attractive to the back yard critters. And remember this, unless you are in the northern states where you have to battle snow to get them out of the back yard, you only have to take them out once a week, so no big deal if they aren't easy to haul out. Just get them away from the house!

I do live in a state that gets snow hence my thoughts on easily retrieving the containers, schlepping through the snow and or ice accumulated in the yard to the curb. However I'm considering your ideas and thankyou for your great imput.

Make a 3 sided cover out of the plastic or wooden lattice sold in 4 x 8 sheets. Attach it to a pallet with L brackets you can place and level anywhere.
