We let the birds put of their pen during the day. A few of them like to scratch the dirt out of some of the flower pots and beds. Is there a safe chicken repellent?

I bought a 6 foot piece of PVC that is big enough around to plant my plants in. Then I cut them by using painters tape and a hacksaw. I placed the tape all the way around the pipe (I bought a 12 inch diameter). I used the tape as my cutting line. I made several cuts. A 6 foot piece made 7 pots. Some short, some tall. I put plastic over the bottom of a pot and poured fence post cement into the tube to cover the bottom. I put a cut off drinking straw in the middle of the bottom to allow drainage. Once this set overnight, I removed the plastic and the straw. I decoupaged the outside. Then I put 4 coats of laquer over the pots.
