How can I make a small deck in the front of my house?

I'm looking for some plans for DYI deck at my front door. Small in size...i.e. 8x16ish.

As far as plans go, there are some things you have to decide on. Concrete, wood, composite, aluminum, etc? Where to put steps? How will you anchor it to your house? Do you need railings? These might give you some ideas to get you started.
