What Dremel tool do I use to cut a glass bottle?

  • Hi Eric, you would use a Dremel diamond cutting disc. https://www.amazon.com/Dremel-545D-545-Diamond-Wheel/dp/B00004UDI9

You can also find them in home improvement stores too.

Hi Eric: The key is to use a carbide bit made especially for glass and tile in your drill, and go slow. You'll find these bits at most home centers alongside other drill bits or ceramic tile tools. You can tape a small scrap of dense cardboard to the glass to keep the bit from skipping around. Here's a site I found that may give you some help. Please note that when the guy says to use a cordless drill and NOT a corded drill, it's because of the water. You don't want to get a shock! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AJwmy6U2QOg

I used a regular cylindrical grinding bit to go thru china. I start it on an angle then bring it up to be perpendicular to the surface. Don't push let the tool do the work. I do this thru a small puddle of water so the bit stays cool. You can create a puddle by building a wall out of clay around the spot where you want to cut and filling it with water. I find it helpful to find the right speed by practicing on an unimportant piece first.
