You could build a deck in that area that rests just slightly off the ground. I suggest that because it looks like your elevation slants down away from the house for drainage. If you did concrete or pavers it would mean moving around some dirt--too much work!
You can get pavers pretty inexpensively at your local hardware store or Walmart. These can be temporary as well so if you ever decide you don't like it you can remove it.

I extended mine by using the big flat concrete squares from Home depot. And I edged in with regular bricks in a different color.
