If your kid has a ton of big toys that don't fit anywhere, you can quickly and easily add some deep shelves to their closet to add a ton of storage and make it way easier for them to keep things clean! If you love this project, you can find more easy and affordable DIY project ideas on my blog, Love & Renovations.
Start by installing your support boards. You can use a 1X2 for a more streamlined look, but since these were going in a child's room (and storing heavy toys), I wanted the extra stability of a 2X4. Find the studs in your walls, then use a level to assist in installing the board.

Use a drill and extra-long screws to install the board.
Install the side boards to be approximately the same depth as you want the shelf to be. A tip is to measure the depth of the toys you're wanting to install, then add an inch or so to ensure you've got plenty of room. Install supports on the back and sides for as many shelves as you plan to install.
Once your supports are complete, add your 1X12 (or whatever depth you'd like for your shelf) board and attach directly to the supports with screws. Our shelves are deeper than normal because of the size of toys we're storing, but you should do whatever works best for your situation.
Finally, stain or paint your boards to finish them and fill them up! If you want to see more details on this project, just head on over to the full blog post.
