I’ve forever wanted these $19.99 Space saver bookshelves from IKEA. But they have been out of stock forever! And we recently moved where IKEA now doesn’t ship here. So the cheapest way to do these shelves was to make them! Buying them anywhere else was too much for what it was. - this was the first time I did a full woodwork project without the help of

my husband 😬😬😬 usually he helps me out!

First things first I bought:

1- 1X2

2 - 1x4

Brad nails for my nail gun

and wood glue (which I already had)

I measured each piece into 3ft piece

After I measured them out, and marked my wood, I plugged in my table saw and lined up the pencil mark I drew with my red laser built into my table saw

CHOP CHOP

After I had all the pieces cut. I added the two pieces of 1X4 together. Back piece and bottom piece. I added wood glue in between and then used my nail gun to attach it

After the back and bottom were attached I added the 1X2 for the lip. To keep the books from sliding off. Same process I did wood glue then nail gun.

Here it is all glued up and nailed.

I let them dry for 24hrs which is a bit excessive but I had no time crunch.

After I painted and primed them white with trim and door paint so it’s easy to wipe off the dust.

K, my husband did help me level and screw them to the wall, but that’s because he doesn’t trust me hahaha.

Here they are before I put the books on

All done! Kids have more space for their books :)

You did a great job. The ledges look great. Be careful, your hubby might fluff off other projects so you can tackle them 😁 But you can do it 👍
