We had these rustic bottoms from a fence that was taken down. Most people would throw them away. But, not us! We knew we could do something with them. The lightbulb went on when we got a board from a friend that had various unique knobs on it. They just seemed a little blah. The board they were on was not very big and painted a weird color. So guess where they went!

To the old fence boards! Here is one of the boards we started with. We wanted to only have 3 boards, so to the chop saw it went. The board on the right was too tall so it got cut off.

Here is the biggest one we had. A 2 x 2 was glued down on the back of all the boards for extra stability and strength. We then put heavy objects on top and let them dry over night. This heavy piece come in handy in many of our projects!

The next morning we screwed those 2 x 2 boards down.

We thought that the six boards were too long, so we took it to the chopsaw and cut it off.

Here is how they look before the knobs were put on.

Then, to seal the wood, we took them outside and sprayed the entire piece front and back.

Here is what we used.

And here’s where it got a little difficult, for me. In order to put the knobs on, I had to drill in from the backside to make a whole big enough for the socket to go into. It may sound easy enough, but it took me a couple tries and many different tools to figure this out.🤪

Here they are all done. We did have to get in to our stash of extra knobs and hooks to add a knob to each board.

These would look great in an outside entry.

Or even I a garden area to hang tools. I hope you like our project!
