I want to enclose some shelves in my kitchen.
I have a small area in my kitchen, between two walls (about 42" apart) where I have shelves. I would like to enclose it with doors to make a little pantry. What is the cheapest, easiest way to do that? I don't want a curtain or louver doors, and it's too small for standard folding doors. (Which are usually 48"). I have some new 2 x 2's that I might be able to create a frame with, and I have some quarter inch plywood I could cut doors out of, but I'm not sure how to do it. The area goes from floor to ceiling, so I was thinking of having two long doors and two shorter ones at the top.

Your idea on shortening the space with two sets of doors is way to go. I would make sturdy frames and then add some lighter wood to cover the frames. Just add hinges and check out the many ways to keep doors closed. Magnets, spring hinges, etc. I found that the press on hooks inside the door to be a good place to hang my keys to gates, barn, out building, etc etc. Kept in just one place...just make sure the hooks dont line up with the self and just align with the open spaces.
You could build a frame, attach plywood to the back of it and use blackboard paint to create a message board/shopping list/menu board . Then attach it with a piano hinge to the opening. Just a thought.
be sure the frame is wide enough so when u open door you have room to fully open the door without having handle against wall.
