How do I make upright revolving storage for my fabric?

I am needing storage ideas for my fabric. I would like to be able to easily browse my fabric collection without digging into baskets/containers/drawers. I am wondering about building a revolving tall narrow shelving unit similar to a CD storage tower. I would appreciate any ideas and/or suggestions. The revolving CD storage towers I have found are easily $200....I would like to make or upcycle a piece of furniture into something similar without spending a fortune!

The last picture shows fabric wound around forms cut from plastic real estate for sale signs, which you can probably obtain for free.

You can buy clear stacking boxes at the dollar store or discounted at places like Michaels, AC Moore or JoAnn Fabrics. You can decorate these boxes using the fabric inside each box using spray glue. You can also buy plain, sturdy shelving units at Ikea to store the stacking boxes.
I have a older heavy wooden lazy Susan. Maybe you could get some dollar store organizers and glue them to a lazy Susan. You could probably pick one up at a thrift store.
