What products are available for using on ceiling? Can it be glued rather than nailed? How about screws? Do I need to put plywood up first?

Check lowes - they have a nice pine that comes in wrapped packages. We used finishing nails to attached to ceiling beams. This material is thin and screws would split the wood.

We had to rip out old tiles then uncovered ceiling beams for connecting. Dry wall was underneath so we just went over it.

How you begin... depends on what you have to work with but if you're starting from scratch then yes you need some kind of covering as it will also help insulate.

  • I would use tongue and groove wood because it's easy to find and use. Attach it with a nailgun into the studs.

Never glue anything to walls or ceilings. It ruins the walls under what you're installing. Future homeowners will thank you.
