After living on my own for 2 years, I've final found the best ways to clean. After some research and busting some wives-tales, I'm bring to you - 9 cleaning don'ts! Just hope this helps you to not make the same mistakes I have.

#1 Don't wash windows on a sunny day. The heat from the sun will quickly dry your solution, causing streaks.

Instead, wait for a overcast day. This way you will avoid the streaks and you wont have to wear sunglasses (:

#2 Don't spray your cleaners directly onto your surface. This makes the chemicals airborne. If you have asthma this is especially harmful. The chemicals will get into your lungs and irritate them.

Instead, spray your cloth first, then clean.

#3 Don't wipe counters with dirty dish water. This is an easy way to spread germs.

Instead, use a cleaning wipe or sanitizing spray.

#4 Don't dust with a dry cloth. This only pushed dust around instead of picking it up.

Instead, wet your cloth first.

#5 Don't clean against the grain. For stainless steal, you will see the marks when cleaned in circular motions.

Instead, go with the grain to avoid marks.

#6 Don't clean windows with newspaper. I know, I know. My Dad has done this for YEARS. It turns out, there are chemicals in the ink used to print.

Instead, use a micro fiber cloth or paper towel.

#7 Don't clean stone countertops with vinegar. The acid in the vinegar eats away at the stone.

Instead, use a stone safe cleaner.

#8 Don't use a laundry stick to clean carpets. Laundry sticks are meant to be washed out.

Instead, use dish soap and water.

#9 Don't make cleaning a chore! It may not be your favorite thing to do, but I'm sure you love the way your home feels after a nice afternoon of cleaning.
