I put the grates in the dishwasher all the time. They come out nice and clean. Best of luck to you.
Yes, but if they are really caked, don’t wash fine china or nice glasses in the same load. The pans under the grates will more than likely come clean. The grates may need to soak in vinegar before washing. They can be hard cases. ☺️
I find it best to clean them with a damp cloth or sudsy water each time you use them; because if you don't then dirt and grease will accumulate. Just put in the sink and use 'elbow' grease to clean. No problem. You can put them in the dishwasher, but you get a better result if you clean them yourself each time.
I have an iron grill grate in my cooktop that we use all the time and I also throw mine in the dishwasher. It gets most of char off and does get all of the grease off my grates but I still have to use a stiff nylon pot scrubber to get the dried residue off them after I run them in the dishwasher. Once I have them scrapped good I give them a good rinse in the sink, let dry and rub oil on them before putting them back in my grill. By the way if have glasses or white dishes in your dishwasher with your grate you will end up with little tiny black specks all over your dishes that will have to be run through a rinse cycle.
