I have a steamer that I use to get to all the nooks and crannies follow immediately by wiping down entire surfaces with soapy water with a little bleach added (this is for added insurance). I think if you get rid of ALL the mold and put 3-4 pieces of charcoal in a small bowl (tuck in the back) should prevent future growth. But this will work only if you get rid of all the mold. You might change it out every 6 months or so. I have a Eureka steamer, it's kind of pricey, but I bought it at a garage sale. You might try Craigslist.

The reason it keeps coming back is the dryer/fan component part has stopped working, as well as a gasket failure. You need to get that repaired ASAP. The mold can start growing between the inside and outside walls if your frig. It can contaminate your groceries and make you sick. I highly recommend you get it fixed!
