How can I remove hardened plastic that melted on a gas burner when it was hot?
not much will help. You can try a razor blade and scrape it off.
This is what worked for me but it does take a lot of scrubbing....wear rubber gloves!!!
Make a paste from dish washer powder and let it sit over night with a damp old towel over top. In the morning take a damp paper towel and scrub the plastic off.
2 suggestions.
• heat it back up, have an old rag ready to wipe it all off fast. Then scour the remaining when it’s cold.
• Freeze it, if you have a chest freezer, will make the plastic more brittle and easier to chip off
When it happened to me, I heated it back up and scraped with a metal spatula. I then unplugged it. When cool, I used a nylon scrubby dampened with hot soapy water, to remove any leftover residue.
Use a heat gun or blow dryer and scrape with a straight edge razor blade gently until it comes off.
