How can I remove melted plastic from top of a toaster oven?

A Plastic bread bag was left on top of oven. The oven got hot enough to melt the plastic.

    not much will help. You can try a razor blade and scrape it off.

    This is what worked for me but it does take a lot of scrubbing....wear rubber gloves!!!

    Make a paste from dish washer powder and let it sit over night with a damp old towel over top. In the morning take a damp paper towel and scrub the plastic off.

    2 suggestions.

    • heat it back up, have an old rag ready to wipe it all off fast. Then scour the remaining when it’s cold.

    • Freeze it, if you have a chest freezer, will make the plastic more brittle and easier to chip off

    When it happened to me, I heated it back up and scraped with a metal spatula. I then unplugged it. When cool, I used a nylon scrubby dampened with hot soapy water, to remove any leftover residue.

    Use a heat gun or blow dryer and scrape with a straight edge razor blade gently until it comes off.
