Please suggest how to remove the black marks which have come on the washing machine rubber. As soon as I finish the washing I wipe it dry with a towel. Even then those black marks have appeared.

Thank you.

If youra hine is a front loader I have some unsettling news, this is a mold/mildew issue that these type of machines have an issue with.

You can make a paste of water baking soda (toothpaste consistancy) for cleaning the stain, but to kill the actual mold you will need to make a diluted spray of bleach and water (50/50). Spray the area, leave your door open. When it's dead, use an old scrubby (like something you would is on dishes, but a clean one) and scrub the area. Now rinse it clean with a cloth and cool water. If there still is staining use the baking soda and water mixture to remove it.

Unfortunately there is nothing you can do to prevent it.

After cleaning, I would run a cleaning cycle in your machine with whatever cleaning tablet it recommends. If it's built up there it could be in the hidden area of the drum also. My machine says monthly, I do it about every 6 weeks.

Always leave the door open after loads and just keep an eye on it. Eventually the sealay meed replacing.

  • That is a build up of mould, softner and grease from your clothes. I get rid of mine with a scrubbing brush and bleach. I also do a long hot wash once a month with nothing in the machine.

This is why I got rid of my front-loading washer. It was a never-ending mold removing nightmare.

We had the same issue but we caught the spots early that we had. Once I’m done washing, hubby and I both wipe down the rubber gaskets around the machine opening AND the door to prevent mold buildup in our Maytag front loader! The few spots are there yet but haven’t gained any other mold spots. I’m trying this bleach liquid stick/pencil and put it on the spots. Leave in place.

Bleach water will take care of cleaning up the mold/mildew. Bleach does not kill the spores, once the rubber is clean and dry, spray it well with vinegar, getting into all the crevices, folds, etc. Bleach is an excellent antibacterial and anti fungal agent. Leave the door open for the vinegar to dry naturally and kill more of the spores left after cleaning. This should do the trick.
