How do I clean hard water deposits inside my dishwasher?

Our local water supply is high is limestone content and over time has left significant deposits in our dishwasher. It is especially troublesome around the detergent cup in the door. I've been able to remove some with a CLR type solution but not all. Suggestions?

  • Run a few empty cycles with several cups of white vinegar and see if that helps.

We have the same problem in our dishwasher. We originally found TANG , a whole jar run without any dishes, would clean it (citrus powder). Then we found walmart LemiSHine works just as well. We ran a load with no dishes and filled the detergent dispenser full. Now we add some LemiShine each time we run a load of dishes. We have had no problems since. You can find it where dish detergents are sold in Walmart
