How do I keep burnt grease from building up at the bottom of my BBQ?

I cook meat on an open metal grate and the drippings fall thru onto the flame guard cover, then burn and fall into the BBQ bottom. It gets extremely greasy and I must scrape it out. Can I line the bottom with foil to catch the grease or is there another way to keep it clean. Tks.

We used to have a grill that actually had a space for narrow foil pans for this purpose. Our current one, my husband uses foil.

How about using disposable aluminum trays from the dollar store, they come in multipacks and would save You having to clean it out every time......Just a thought.......love the $ stores for things like that.

Using any aluminum underneath will cause the elements to rot out.

I presume you're referring to a gas barbecue. Mine had a panel screwed onto the bottom. I removed it, placed an old oven tray underneath and then I just slide it out, spray it with cillit bang, after half an hour, I throw some dirt (soil) on it, bros around with an old wire brush, then hose it off in a hidden corner of the garden. Btw you can an also buy a cheap adjustable tray from a one-euro-store.

I use aluminum pans from Dollar Tree to catch grease in our grill. No need to clean. Just toss & replace. So cheap!
