Shirley, do you have a front loading washing machine? I ask because I've found that the folds in the rubber around the seal can hold moisture and start to smell moldy after awhile. Use some cleaner and a rag or paper towels to swab around that rubber seal, getting in all the nooks and crannies.

Hi Shirley. I'm Cindy. They make cleaning products for this exact reason. I know Tide makes a machine cleaner. I know this because my 22 year old washer finally gave out. So we had to buy a new washer. It came with a Tide washer cleaning soap. I haven't used it yet since the machine is new. Best of luck to you Shirley.

My washing machine had the MOST horrible smell and it’s was leaching onto my clothes. UGH! I tried bleach and hot water, vinegar and hot water. Excessive amount should ofbaking soda, etc. what worked was Affresh tabs. You throw one into an empty washer. Run on hot water setting and repeat a small necessary. Totally worth the cost. Good luck!

I use vinegar as well. 2 cups to a small load of water and a tiny (two squirts) bit of dish detergent when ever it starts to smell a little funky.

If you can after cleaning it . when not using the washer machine, KEEP THE DOOR OPEN. You won't have that smell.
