Hello Tom,
If it is the fabric type, you can soak it over night in a Washing powder and Hot water along with a squeeze of W/Up Liquid. Then squeeze it out until clean in the morning and rinse and dry before returning to Hood. If you have Charcoal filters, then they need to be replaced. Contact Hood Company !
Ours is metal and we just put it in the dishwasher. So easy!
Put it in your sink and cover it with vinegar and a few drops of dish soap. Let it soak and the gently scrub it with a soft scrub brush.

I take mine down and spray with degreaser. Then rinse with the spray nozzle. Many people put it in the dishwasher.
I lay mine in the sink with how water with a little baking soda sprinkled over them and let them soak then I rinse them well and let them dry or you can put them in the dishwasher too

If you have time you could just remove them and soak them in very hot soapy water for about 15 minutes, rinse, dry and reinstall

Mine hood range filters are small enough to put into the dishwasher.
Remove it and soak it in degreaser like Krud Kutter. Then rinse and dry before installing it again.
If you're referring to the floppy metal screen part underneath the hood, it should be removable. I usually wash mine in hot soapy water, let it sit out to dry, then put it back.
