Vinegar, vinegar, vinegar ~ the cheapest white vinegar you can find, either pour into tray if there's enough of a lip, to just cover and leave for ½ hour, then rinse off thoroughly. If there's no lip. soak a cloth in vinegar and lay it on the tray for ½ hour or longer if needed, then rinse well.

All that mineral deposit will ruin your appliances! It will also ruin you hot water heater! Have you thought about a water softener system? Much less expensive than replacing appliances.

White vinegar as everyone says. You can also use this in your coffee makers, irons, and anything that holds your hard water.

I agree with everyone else, vinegar! I had the same problem, years of mineral buildup. I tried everything and nothing worked until I tried vinegar. I soaked paper towels and just let them sit in the tray overnight. There were some stubborn spots that needed some extra soaking time but, it worked. I even wrapped the paper towel around the tube, the water comes out, and it even removed the buildup from that.

Kaboom. Purchase at Walmart or your local grocer. Spray and leave overnight. Wash and rinse before re installing. Also works to get the krud off the tube that water and ice come through. Vinegar works well also.

Vinegar is the answer - our well-water is so hard, I must soak pet bowls daily. That Said... Some plastic trays have a lot more surface tooth to grab on to. Try replacing used ones with something approximating silicon or similar. And take heart: if it's on the tray, it's not in your drink!!

I live in Bullhead City, AZ. Our water is so hard, we have to put vinegar in our dishwasher for every load. I even put it in the clothes washer. For hard water crust, vinegar is the way to go.

CLR kitchen and bath works great and it doesn't smell as bad as kaboom. Let it set a while then cleans off easily.

I rub a lemon on mine and let it sit for a while and then it usually just wipes away.

Pour vinegar on it & let it sit for an hour of so. Use a toothbrush to scrub it. You may have to repeat a second time. Vinegar also removes the calcium buildup around your faucets.

I have the same problem. Vinegar did not work. I just used my fingernail and it was all gone in five minutes.
