Looking for best way to clean dishwasher?

To clean hard water buildup-

Use a scratch free scrubby sponge and pure white distilled vinegar (the cheapest stuff works great)

soak area with vinegar. You may need to saturate cloth and lay on the area. Allow to soak for a few minutes, then scrub with scrubby sponge soaked in vinegar.

To clean grease and dirt build up-

Place a dishwasher tab (the hard kind) in a small dish with just enough warm water to dissolve into paste. Use scratch free scrubby sponge with the paste to clean area.

Try putting some citric acid powder in the soap dispenser and running a normal cycle. You may have to do it several times. Citric acid will remove buildup, soap scum and hard water buildup.

lemonade kool aid! Just toss it it and run threw an empty dishwasher.

just sprinkle it on the bottom of an empty dishwasher and run a cycle with hot water. presto! clean and odors gone( of course you have to get any guck out with your hand before you do it)

The kook aid really works. If trying to sell a house with an old dishwasher it make it look like new. This is unsweetened lemon flavor. Try two packets sprinkled in the bottom. Run on pots and pans cycle.

All the answers sound good. I sprinkled the bottom liberally with baking Sosa and put a dish of vinegar on the top rack and then ran it on the hottest cycle. Sparkling clean
