My refrigerator still smells after I cleaned it. What do I check?

  • Have you tried cleaning it with vinegar? That may help, as well as a box of baking soda to absorb odors.

    Yes, but I think the smell is coming from the vents where the water drains

    Do you have a tray under your refrigerator where the water goes during the evaporation cycle? Some refrigerators have this and some do not. One that I had, did have one and I had to pull it out periodically and wash it. Got sort of icky.

    Should be a drain pan underneath the fridge. On some fridges the front grill pops off to get access to the pan.

    If you have any drawer liners, wash those. Pull out any drawers to make sure nothing has leaked underneath them. Mix 2 TBSP baking soda with a quart of hot water in a spray bottle. Spray and wipe down everything, inside & out on drawers. Wipe the entire surface of anything you put back in after cleaning.
