I have a gas range with heavy metal grills on top. I remove the 3 grills and stick them in my dishwasher (per the manual instructions when we bought the new stove). Then I spray Simple Green on the top and let it soak for a few minutes while I finish loading the dishwasher, then I use Simple Green wipes to scrub off the stove. I also use dishrags that have the scrubber underside for those sticky burnt on globs I manage to create when cooking some of our favorite foods. Then I use a Simple Green wipe to wipe down the front of the stove, handles, and top of the fan (usually dusty by the end of every day). I hope this helps Vanessa

Hello, Personally I have a expensive double wall unit with self clean oven option but I prefer to use the traditional spray on cleaners overnight and wipe the mess away he next morning. I do the same with the racks are use the spray on cleaner in a plastic trash bag.

Additionally -I clean my interior facing glass greasy build up very similar to how I clean my glass cooktop surface. I use the safety razor-to scrape way the heavy spattered grease and then use cream glass polish.

I agree with DesertRose for a gas range. Simple green bothers me, so I'll use Lysol Power kitchen or scrubbing bubbles. Avoid getting those cleaners near the gas ports.

If you have a ceramic cooktop, the process is completely different. I'll use a ceramic cooktop cleaner (Weimans makes one) and a BRAND NEW razor blade. Put a quarter size dab of cleaner on the cooktop, then using a wet sponge, scrub in little circles. Let this watery mess sit for 5 minutes then use the razor blade at a very shallow angle to scrape off stubborn spots. Wipe off the top, but don't rinse. Instead, buff it dry with a soft dry cloth. Ceramic cooktop cleaners contain polymers that bond with the glass and help prevent future sticking.

To clean your oven, first scrape out any loose icky burnt stuff and then sprinkle a generous amount of baking soda over all the other gooey, burned spots. Next, put some plain white vinegar in a spray bottle and spritz it over the baking soda. Now, watch for the cool science project that will happen in your oven

  • Baking soda and vinegar made into a paste. Using a suitable non scratch scourer and the paste, scrub off the residue from the stove.

Ammonia works very well on stoves. Put it in a spray bottle, and spray and let it sit for a few minutes then clean with a non abrasive scrubbie. That's how I keep my stove clean.

One trick I use is the remove any plates from the stove and take them outside and spray them with oven cleaner. Then I remove the knobs and put them in the dishwasher and wash them.
