Stove-top cleaner

I have a black stove top (gas) and cannot seem to keep it clean and shiney like I want it to be. I always clean it after cooking but it just looks dirty. I don't scrub for fear of scratching the surface. Anyone know of a good cleaner?

Have you tried wiping the stove with vinegar mixed with water?

Try using screen cleaner, it works great on mine. I buy it at Staples.

My SIL uses a wax cleaner from home depot made for stove tops. Her stove always looks new.

I used a RainX type product for smooth top ovens, but I do not have it anymore. You can probably get it at an appliance center.

Simple green works on mine. It looks streaky at first but when it dries it is shiney

I also have a black stove, and after cleaning up from cooking I use armor all sheets. Works great on granite too.
  • I just use name brand Windex. Is the original finish on your stove high gloss or matte? This may be why you are not getting the glossy look you are going for. Try some straight rubbing alcohol on an area not in plain sight. Just make sure you give it a good half hour or so before turning the stove back on. Let us know what magic wonder worked best for you. Good luck and happy cleaning!

My stove top is glossy black. Thanks for answers. I bought some BarKeepers Friend Cooktop Cleaner at Bed Bath. Will see how that works.

Just something I read about my new glass top stove, is not to use anything that has bleach in it because the circles will fade. Hope this helps also :)

I hated my stove top until I tried Orange Glo. I tried every cleaner there is even no scratch comet. Everything left it streaked. I even finished it with a microfiber cloth. One day I tried Orange Glo and it took off grease and baked on cooking liquids. My stove top looks like new. I finish it with a micro fiber cloth. I clean the stainless parts on the oven with Orange Glo too. It makes the oven shine even after wiping it with a micro cloth. No streaks! For cooked on grease, I use a little Bar Keepers Friend, rinse, and follow with Orange Glo. Bar Keepers Friend is great on stainless pots and pans as well as the stainless on my oven. Just a little elbow grease and the surface is as good as new. : )

Where do you buy Orange Glo? I'm not sure I've ever seen it, or maybe I wasn't LOOKING for it. I will certainly try!!

We get ours at Walmart. You should be able to find it with the other furniture polishes. I think there may be similar products under another name but it should be the oil not the cleaner. You may find it with the name "restorative" on it. Since your in OK you should have no problem finding it. This product removes labels from things and gives a nice shine to floors and furniture to. Best of luck. : )
