The easy and quick way to clean an oven

I have tried cleaning the oven in the past with baking soda and vinegar but that takes time and I still needed a brillo pad. I also tried ammonia but that's more time. Hate the fumes that make me and my family sick even with exhaust on the oven spray. I lined the bottom of the stove but the side walls are attacked by splatter. I have had two neck injuries and it hurts to hold my neck trying to see and scrub to clean this oven. The front door of the oven comes off which helps but not much. IT's THE SCRUBBING WITH THE BRILLO, AND IT DOESN'T COME OFF. I have a teenager that helps with the cooking, the rest is mom's job. Thanks for answering me back.

I take it this is not a self cleaning oven? I know you mentioned Brillo pads, have you tried the SOS pads with the cleaner inside? Not sure if it would help but that stuff is pretty good. Best of luck.

You can also try Mr. Clean Magic Eraser.

I know you said the ammonia didn't work. Your oven should NOT be hot. My mother would put a saucer of ammonia in the oven and leave overnight and it did the trick. Next day she would scrub. Have you tried the new scrub buddies? Love them. Got at Home Depot. However, I wouldn't fret over it, this shows you are a true homemaker and that is something to be proud.

I would spray ammonia on a warm oven and use the lightest grit sandpaper. It will work and not affect porcelain oven.

My grandmother used to leave a bowl of ammonia overnight in the oven and it seemed to loosen it before using the light sandpaper.

Best cleaner I've used (done the ammonia and baking soda thing :P) is Easy Off Degreaser. Works seriously well on greasy and hard to remove stains. Even works on grease stains on clothing! I use it on my grill at end of season, too. Great product!

I tried the baking soda also, and it was no match for my oven. I agree with Mary Lou, use Easy Off Oven Cleaner and follow directions. The grease will come right off with a wipe of a sponge. Keep the room well ventilated, though fumes no worse than ammonia.

Oven must have 2 racks....preheat oven to 250 degrees....TURN OFF....on bottom rack place a glass baking pan of boiling water....on upper rack place a glass bowl of ammonia ...shut door and leave overnight....ease open door careful of fumes...JUST WIPE CLEAN.

Thanks Amber - my Easy Off says not to get any on the heating element and mine isn't removable. There's an opening under one of the heating elements that should be stuffed with a cloth to keep the ammonia fumes IN the oven!

How about fume-free Easy Off? In some reviews people complained about the non-aerosol trigger, but there's an aerosol one too. I think the oven needs to be pre-warmed. http://www.easyoff.us/sf2_fumefree.shtml

Get Super Clean in the purple bottle. It is a De-greaser located in the Automotive Department. Stuff is Amazing.

Some one posted they put the stove on to get it warm then turn off put a dish with boiling water on bottom rack and then dish with ammonia on top rack and let sit over night or longer but I still had to use my brillo pad. Next time I hope it want be so long between clean ups. The longer the splatters on there the harder it was to get off. My daughter does a lot of baking sweets for her dad so I can see why the mess. But thanks to everyone for their suggestions on how to clean a dirty stove. Thanks again
