I turned on the oven @300 degrees and my self-cleaning oven started smoking from spattered grease. Turned it off and waited to cool before opening. Help!!

You don't use anything except the cleaning cycle to clean it. Wipe away the excess with paper towels then start the cleaning cycle. If you try to wash it away you will kill the active parts of the oven lining that make it self cleaning and you will forever have to scrub it by hand .

Turn on the self-cleaning cycle and leave the house! That smoke means it is doing its job. If you can, put fans in a window or turn on your vent fans because your smoke alarms will probably start sounding. Whatever you do...don't scrub!

Make a paste with baking soda and water . Spread it all over the inside of the oven . Then after about an hour , finely mist with white vinegar and wipe clean .
