Baking soda and water is my go-to for oven racks.

We spray ours outdoors with oven cleaner, wait 30 minutes and then scrub with a brush and hose off the residue.

I agree with Joyce. Walk away and later on dump the whole thing in the bath tub or laundry tub and rinse. The will be like new.

We take several layers of newspaper soaked in soapy water and place our racks on them and then cover with several more layers of soapy newspaper. Let it set for several hours and all the nasty's will be gone. Just rinse and they are good til the next time.

I put mine in the oven, and then set the oven to "clean"--the oven doesn't know or care where the racks originated. The racks may be less shiny, but they will be clean. Then rinse with water, using paper towels. Works every time!

I combine Patricia and Joyce's method. Put in garbage bag and spray with oven cleaner, hopefully outside and leave in the sun if possible. But works indoors too. HATE CLEANING THE OVEN!!!!
