  • Try a product called Scour Stick. It's pumice and is available at Walmart.

Hi Vivian. CLR works great on hard water stains. The trick to using this product is spraying it on and walking away. Wait an hour to scrub it off. If the stains are bad, you may need to repeat. We had terrible hard water at our last house. This is the only product that helped get rid of these stains. Our new house came with a water softner. The difference is amazing. Good luck Vivian and Happy Holidays.

I use a few squirts of Dawn dish liquid and vinegar. Agitate with a toilet brush. Let it sit for a few hours or overnight. Then just swish around with the toilet brush and flush. The suds suspend the vinegar above the water line also.

You can cup up a magic eraser and let it soak in the toilet. Then scrub clean with other part of magic eraser and/or brush.

Vinegar soaked onto a rag place on the area for 10-15 minutes will break them up.
