How to remove stubborn residue left from non-slip rubber shower pads?

Previous owner put down those sticky pads on the shower floor. I hated them and pulled them all off. We have scrubbed with quite a few products that cleaned the shower floor beautifully except for the dirty sticky rubber residue. We even poured Goo Gone on it with no improvement. Any suggestions?

Try rubbing with peanut butter. You can also try a little acetone on a cloth. You can buy acetone at a beauty supply store.
Have you tried mayonnaise?

You can also try nail polish remover. The acetone kind.
