DIY Laundry Soap
I’ve been making this soap for quite some time now. It’s easy, earth friendly, and economical!
I start by making my own washing soda. You can buy washing soda, but I find that it’s less expensive to make it. Washing soda is basically baking soda with the moisture removed. All you do is spread baking soda out on a baking sheet and bake at 400 degrees for about an hour, stirring it every once in awhile.
Then I grate one bar of Kirks soap, available online. I like to use the food processor but you can also grate it by hand. I start by using the fine grater attachment.
Then I grate it again with the chopper attachment.
Then I add one cup of Ecos OXO Bright and 1/2 cup of salt, and run it through the processor again.
Next, I pour it into a bowl and stir in 1 cup washing soda by hand. You can do this in the food processor as well, but beware: leave the lid on for about 10 minutes after mixing to let all the soda dust settle. Otherwise, you may accidentally inhale the dust, as it comes pouring out when you open the lid.
That’s it! Keep it in an airtight container, and use 2 tablespoons per load for a front loader, or 1/4 cup for a top loader.
Do you make any other cleaners? I’m going to start trying a few others as well.
Thanks for reading my post!

Jamey

You can also make your own dishwasher soap -equal parts washing soda to borax. Use white vinegar for the rinse. I've been doing it for years- dishes come out clean- and the diswasher is on its 30th year. I did make my own laundry soap- but used borax/washing soda/grated Neptha Soap. Worked fine, but I got a new washer and using it would void the warranty, so I opted out for now. Never bothered with the baking/blending etc- just stir it up in a large bowl, make sure its well mixed.

My fave homemade cleaner is a spray cleaner. Everybody loves it. So much so I gift it to them. It makes my house smell so good. It's just alcohol about ¼ of whatever bottle I use. NOW brand Natures Shield essential oil up to 30 drops depending on spray bottle you use. And then filtered water to fill up spray bottle.
Natures Shield is like thieves oil. But smells way better and in my opinion is better and much cheaper and not part of an MLM.
The only thing I don't use this on is wood cuz alcohol dries it out.
