Are retractable clothing lings strong enough for full load of washing?

I had one and had to prop up each line, it was a triple line contraption. If the props blew over, everything was on the ground. I finally bought one of the umbrella type ones. It can be taken out, in two pieces and the top section collapses. It has a tube in the ground to hold it stable. It does not protrude out of the ground so doesn't get in the way of mowing. I can hang some pretty heavy rugs on it and it takes it without a whimper. I think it is worth the few extra bucks.

Have had one for years. Attached it to our woodshed and the house, about 15 ft. and it can be retracted if needed. Buy one, good investment. Yes, holds a machine load.

I have one in my yard, had it for years. I have an oversize washing machine and it takes a full load. I do find that because it is over a long span, that when hanging heavier items, I use a pole to prop the centre as it droops somewhat. Nothing like the smell of outdoor dried laundry.

Mine is old, but here is one that looks like mine and it holds a full load of clothes, there is a lever on left to lock the line in place when you stretch it out from the garage mount to the pole with the hook it locks into. Best one I've ever had.
