Burlap coffee sacks smell

How to wash burlap coffee sacks:

1. Remove any leftover beans/loose strings/etc.,
2. Place the coffee sack in a large pillowcase and secure the top of the pillowcase with a rubber band. Wash two at a time to keep washing machine balanced. Use warm water–regular cycle–with detergent.
3. When the wash cycle is over, open the pillowcases and see if any odor remains. If there’s still an odor, wash those sacks again. If needed run coffee sacks through the washing machine twice.
4. Remove the burlap sacks from the pillowcases and line dry or machine dry. Do not use any fabric softener sheets.

Some people have had excellent results turning the bags inside out, shaking well, then placing them outside in the sunshine and spraying them well with a 50/50 mix of vinegar & water. Let dry in the open air, turn the bags over and repeat.

Oh how I wish I had your problem! I just love the smell of coffee beans. I take the coffee beans and use them in a nylon sack in my car to absorb odors and us coffee lovers can't get enough of the fragrance.
