    1) I spray with hydrogen peroxide and allow to dry. I mean wet, not a spritz. The peroxide has not faded or discolored any fabric or rugs. We have cats and a dog. But still, you might test on your fabric. If the fabric is still dirty: I use hot water 1/2 gal. + 1/4 c. laundry detergent + 1/8 c. dish washing powder. Mix it all in your pail. Then I use white clothes and rub the fabric. If a cloth gets soiled, use a clean one. Then I use clear distilled water to rinse by wiping the fabric again. I am 73 years old and have used this method for 30 years, nothing has been destroyed as yet. Good luck. Oh, use dish washing gloves or a good hand cream after.

Don't forget to vacuum the upholstery thoroughly before putting liquid on it 😀
