Wash with one cup baking soda in warm water. Follow with 1c white vinegar in a warm wash. This should remove all residue and return your towels to an original state. I never use fabric softener with my towels as it affects their ability to absorbe moisture. This also helps if your towels smell funky.

    Hope this helps 😊

Great video brought by Alice. It gives you great advice about using the washer to fluff your towels. My tip is, at least every other time, toss a tennis ball, a clean athletic shoe, or a pair of swim shoes in the dryer of towels. I have also seen dryer balls in ads. Each of these helps keep the towels from wadding up as they dry, so the towels are getting dried and fluffed at the same time. I LOVe dryer sheets for their scent, but they leave a residue that can make your towels less absorbent over time, so limit dryer sheets. I toss one in with towels about every 3-4 loads, not every time. Best wishes ☺️

The rough feel is from soap residue dried into the fabric... soak the towels in hot water with white vinegar... I would add at least 1/2 gallon or more to the first soak.... soak at least one hour.. agitate, drain and rinse at least once....

Now when I wash my towels... I put vinegar in the softener dispenser instead of fabric softener (the fabric softener coats the fibers and then they won't wick up the water from your skin as well) and I do an extra rinse as well.... don't use dryer fabric softener sheets either... the tumbling action in a medium to hot dryer will make the towels soft and absorbent instead of stiff and scratchy.

    Fabric softener in the dryer.

Add a couple of cups to the rinse cycle. Sometimes towels end up with soap residue on them over time. Do this and repeat as needed. I think you will notice a big difference.
