How can we remove odors from vintage clothing?

I'd put them in a plastic garment bag with an open box of baking soda - zip it up and let hang for several ++ days; then hang outdoors - out of the 'weather' but just in good fresh air ..

Hang outside in the shade. Except if they have a nicotine smell that is really difficult to get the smell out.

Home depot has great all purpose cleaner. Use it everywhere. Great on pet stains. Called odor ban comes in 1 gal container

The Smithsonian Museum uses Oxyclean on the stained antique textiles that they get. Sometimes you have to soak the item more than once, however it never damages the fibers and there is no bleach or harsh chemicals.

I use it and am always pleased with the results.

Get an oxidation machine. It kills all odor

If not stained but odiferous only, I use an ozone machine. It sterilizes and takes the odors away.

I appreciate the great ideas! I'm pleased to say after spraying the items with vinegar water several times and letting them air out, they smell great! 🙂
