Take a folded cotton cloth and place it under the mark. Take another clean cloth saturated in rubbing alcohol and press hard on the spot from the top. It pushes the permanent marker ink through to the cloth underneath. You can also use a cotton swab if the mark is small. Rub the swab towards the center of the mark rather than away so not to spread the ink. This really works. I've done it. Check on a hidden spot if the mark is on a colored fabric to make sure the dye won't run.

Try a product that is really meant to be used as a carpet cleaner. I was so impressed by how well it works, that I now keep some in a spray bottle in my laundry room. The cleaner is called Folex , I got it at home depot for about $6 for a large bottle. It gets out ink , blood , dust , wine ,

even dried paint ! Good luck.

You can try a cleaner we found from a hometalk person. It was for black marks on a second hand glider we bought. It took it all out! I do not know if this will help, but it is the best fabric cleaner we have ever used: Folex instant carpet spot remover. It is a little pricey but it works the best we ever used. We ordered it online from Amazon or Walmart.
